Sport Activity Brings Youth to Christ

On August 21,2011, we held a football contest at Long Khanh province. Four football teams from the local congregations in Long Khanh province competed with each other in the cheering of about 280 audiences.
Before the contest, Director of Lutheran Hour Ministries Center in Vietnam delivered a short message of Jesus Christ’s victory against the death to audiences and soccer players. Then he went to the conclusion. “If the players lose the prize there is no problem, but the most importance is they should win Jesus’ salvation.”
We distributed tracts and booklets to the audiences and soccer players. Most of the youth in Vietnam like soccer, we understand their hobby so we held football contest to attract them come to watch and to hear the Gospel.

Are You Shy To Share The Good News To Others?

We held a two days ETS training at Tan Hiep church for 25 key persons from three congregations in Kien Giang province in July 2011. Some of the trainees were very shy to share the Good News to others, some had not talked of Jesus Christ to others even once. We taught them a  practical method to share the Good News to the non- Christians.  During the training, we had two times going out to practice  personal witness; the trainees were equipped with Good News sharing skills. They had boldly talked about Jesus Christ and the everlasting live to 71 un-churched face to face; and got 19 responses, 11 referrals. At the end of the workshop, we encouraged the trainees joining with our ministry to spread the Gospel to the non-Christians. We recruited 14 volunteers.  Apart from training, Lutheran Hour Ministry supplies  ETS volunteers with materials such as booklets, tracts, Music CD, VCDs to help them in reaching the un-churched.

ETS trainee was empowed to share the Good News

On the second day of the ETS training at Tan Hiep church, Mr. Danh Vu, a trainee excitingly reported to the class of his group’s pratice on sharing Jesus Christ with the non-Christians.  Vu said, “Before the ETS training I was very shy to share my faith in Jesus to others but yesterday, after learning the personal witness method, I went out with my group’s members to pratice.  At the first house, I just quietly listened the chief of my group talked of Jesus Christ to the house owner. Then we went to another house; the owner is friend of our group’s member. When we came into that house I saw an altar of the money god on the ground; I felt so pity on the owner, that picture reminded me of my previous days, when I have not yet accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior, I also worshipped the money god. An strong urge from the Holy Spirit in my heart, inspired me sharing with him my experience on how I gave up worshipping idol to receive Jesus as my Savior. Fluently, I told him of the love of God, the forgiveness through Jesus Christ and my hope in Him.  After my sharing, the house’s owner was touched, he has asked us pray for him to accept Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. I was thrilled with a joy, this was the first time I won a soul for Jesus Christ.  I knew that the Holy Spirit has empowered me, took away my shyness from me. Now I fell confident to share the love of God through Jesus Christ to others, thank for your training.” Through our  ETS training, the power of the Holy Spirit changed Mr. Vu to become an strong evangelist.
